A most untraditional love story, this is the celebrated tale of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who involuntarily travels through time, and Clare Abshire, and artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare's passionate affair endures across a sea of time and captures them in an impossibly romantic trap that tests the strength of fate and basks in the bonds of love. (back cover)

Manipulative and compelling

3 stars

Let's be honest: this is NOT a good book. It is a bit shallow and manipulative as hell. Still, I could not give it less than three stars because I had a pretty good time reading it. By the end, I was sucked in into the story so much that I literally cried. It left me with the feeling I get after watching a 3-hour Hollywood love story on a sad, sunny Sunday afternoon. Sure, you COULD do something better with your time, but why should you?
